BOD Election Process
The country is divided into four chapters
- West
- Midwest
- Northeast
- Southeast
We have a total of fifteen (15) DFA Board Members
• Dues paying members from each Chapter elect one (1) Board Member each
year from the membership of their Chapter to represent them (total of
12 for the country serving three (3) year terms).
• We will have 2 Forum elected Board Members that will be ratified by the DFA Board.
• We will have one (1) at large Board Member. This position will be
selected and filled by the Board of Directors. The term of this
position will be 12 months.
Election Process
As terms of current board members expire, we elect new Board members.
These members will be nominated and voted in by the membership within
their Chapter.
The process will be as follows…
1. Three (3) months prior to a position becoming vacant on the
Board, an email will be sent to all Dues Paying DFA Members within the
Chapter of the vacant position. This email will invite Dues Paying
Members from within that Chapter to submit a written nomination for any
member they would like to nominate for representation of their Chapter
on the DFA Board.
2. There will be a three (3) week window for nominations to be
submitted. It is crucial that nominations are written and submitted in
the exact manner the nominating party wants to be displayed.
Nominations will not be changed or edited… they will be presented to
the membership as received.
3. In the nomination process we will encourage the DMA presidents
to communicate and seek qualified candidates to be nominated for the
Board.
4. After the nominations are received, an electronic voting ballot
will be sent to all Dues Paying Members within the Chapter of election.
Attached to the election ballot will be the written nomination for all
voting members to review before casting their vote. There will be a two
(2) week window for members to cast their votes.
5. Vote Count Structure:
1 store = 1 vote
2-5 stores = 2 votes
6-10 stores = 3 votes
11-20 stores = 4 votes
21+ stores = 5 votes
* Board members will be elected by receiving the majority of votes cast.
6. At the end of the two week voting window, the new Board Member will be announced to the entire membership.
• After election, the new Board Member will go through orientation with the Board Membership Chair.
• After orientation, the contact information for the new Board Member
will be distributed to the DFA Members within the chapter they
represent.
• The new Board Member will then begin serving the membership within
their chapter by soliciting and accurately representing the desires of
the membership they represent.
* The term of a DFA Board Member is 3 Years
* There is no limit on how many terms a member can serve
The DFA is absolutely committed to listening to and effectively representing the interests of Dues Paying Members.
